2SAXY Workshop Day: Practice, Articulation, Jazz Language - Oct 10

2SAXY Workshop Day (October 10, 2020 | 10am - 2pm ET)

We are so excited to be back with our second workshop day on Saturday Oct 10! We’ve curated these workshops to be a mix of sax techniques and jazz theory for beginners, intermediates and advanced players. As always, we want you to get your instrument out and play through the exercises with us! We’ll also bring some people onto the screen to work with us directly and give  our feedback.

We will include replay videos, PDF Workbook, and private playlists for each of the workshops. Additionally, all attendees will be invited to an end of the day Q&A and virtual jam session as well!

10:00 am-11:25am ET - Building Your Practice Session (All levels)

We’re kicking the day off with a 2SAXY “Building Your Practice Session” workshop. This is for all levels. We’ll go through each of our techniques and exercises with you step by step and will show you ways to optimize your practice time and log your progress.

We’ve heard a lot of you ask, “how do i practice, what do I practice. I feel like I’m not progressing and overwhelmed” There is an art to practicing and putting your routine together. There isn’t one way to do it, but there are some key things you can incorporate to make the time you put in more effective and fun.

Setting up for success + Q&A (20 min)

In this segment we’ll teach you about best practices for how to schedule your time and how to create priorities for your practice session so you are ready to dive in with confidence when the clock strikes “practice time!”

Example Practice Routines & Exercises (40 min)

In this segment we will go over:

  • What our practice session looks with examples of what we practice and for how long
  • Steps for creating your own practice routine and how to modify and intensify your exercises
  • We will lead you through exercises you can add in right away into your practice sessions.

Keeping track of your progress (15 min)

We’ll show you tools we use for logging our practice sessions and measuring our progress. You’ll learn about how you can use goal setting and time boxing effectively within your practice session.

Q&A (10 min) Ask us Anything

We’ll use this time to go over any questions you may have!

To end workshop day we are inviting all attendees to join for a Q&A and virtual jam session!  We’ll throw in some drills, trade back and forth and have a blast jamming it out together!

Don't take our word for how awesome this will be, here is what past students are saying:

“The biggest take-away from your workshop is this - access to your enthusiasm and encouragement. It has provided me with extra air under my wings in approaching my practice at the craft of playing the saxophone. You guys are the new generation, the mantle has been passed on and it couldn't be in better hands. God Bless you both!” - Jay 🎷

"You guys! I am so proud of my kid, thank you so much for encouraging her! She felt like the online workshops weren't for her because she is a student, but went for it and really gained a lot from them... both skills and confidence! Thank you for including all skill levels!" - Stacey ❤️

"Thanks again for the awesome workshop last weekend. My son thinks the world of you both. And I know Leo has been so instrumental in shaping his confidence - not just in music but in life. Just thank you. So much. These workshops are fantastic." - Jessica 🎉
